Still think that pages and pages of content is what people are looking for when they come to your site? You know reams and reams of research data that patients have to go through just to find the information they are looking for. Research data is fine, but it has its place especially in regards to what people are looking for when they search for information on the Internet. Video is now king of the web. It is what people are looking for and want to interact with. It is kind of like TV on the Internet. You know, TV the big black box that has taken over most people’s minds… People seem to like it, and so does Google. Don’t believe me? Check out this search result for one of our clients. I typed in Southwestern Vermont Health Care and the third result is a video produced by that health system. Cool, huh?
Why is Google showing this video as a higher ranking than a doctor’s monologue on the benefits of a gamma knife? Because people like to watch and interact with video on the Internet, and Google knows that. It is time to start thinking of content as more than just words on a site. Content is also video and other interactive features such as self-assessments. Why do you think WebMD and YouTube are so popular? It’s not the text drawing people in.
