Health Risk AssessmentYour hospital has a web site and people are starting to visit, but once they get to your site what is keeping them there? Long winded academic white papers on the organization’s most recent technology? Probably not. An article that you are now a smoke free campus? Not really. A lot of the content that is displayed on a hospital’s web site is usually not that intriguing, nor is that valuable to the visitor. They can (sometimes) see quickly that you offer a particular service, and that you have doctors who are well qualified. The question to ask is, are they truly getting valuable information about their symptom, concern or diagnosis?

Besides having a nice health library, a site also needs interactive health risk assessment capabilities. A place where a visitor can go through a series of questions related to their concern, and then receive a custom result and recommendation based on their answers. A very valuable tool, that gives the visitor a better sense of where they stand, and allows the hospital site to leverage services and content around the assessment. The assessment should be placed within related content, and accessible from several parts of the site.

We have found that hospital’s are providing self assessments on their sites, but they are not integrating the assessments. They sit out on the server, and are loosely connected to the rest of the site. Integration is key for successful risk assessment implementation.
